Online Cooking Classes Are Now Available!

As we’re all well aware, social distancing has dramatically changed the landscape of much of the world. In this environment of continued separation, we’re committed to doing all we can to bring the world together.  Thus why we have now started offering online cooking classes to encourage families to gather around a shared activity in the kitchen!

What Classes Are Being Offered Online?

Almost all of the classes that you’re familiar with seeing on our calendar are still available!

Adult Classes
Italian Classics, Empanadas and Arepas, Mediterranean Tapas, French Comfort Foods, and pretty much every other style of adult-focused class that you already know and love from our usual calendar is still available and ready to be enjoyed.

Additionally, we’re going to keep developing and innovating fresh new recipes and concepts that will be increasingly relevant in our ever-changing world.  Picture At-Home Sauces, Immunity Boosting Foods, and Mediterranean Pantry to use those ingredients you’ve likely had taking up space in your pantry for years.  We know our world is likely to continue changing dramatically in the coming weeks and months - and we’re ready for the challenge!

While these adult-focused classes may be enjoyed by everyone in the family, we recommend that attendees are familiar with at least a basic level of cooking prior to registering.

Kids Classes
Our increasingly popular Kids Classes are still on the calendar, too!

All classes labeled “Young Chef” on the calendar are catered directly to children aged around 11-15, though we suggest getting the whole family involved whenever possible.  Parents of younger children who are interested in cooking, this is a great activity to do together! The recipes will be slightly more basic, though the material is essentially the same. Similar to our regularly sold-out kids camps and classes, we’ll be teaching our young chefs all of the skills they’ll need to know to set them up for a lifetime of cooking healthy meals at home.

And, heck, if the kids are going to be home anyways, what better way to use the time than by teaching them one of our favorite life skills - cooking delicious, family-friendly food at home. ;)

Culinary Techniques
While many of our classes on our calendar have not changed, the one caveat is our Basic Skills class. Though if you’re ready to learn, we’ve got you covered!

Rather than grouping all skills into one, large-format class, we’ve divided out the skills that we typically teach in Basic Skills into a new series called Culinary Techniques!  Learn how to sauté, braise & blanche, create simple soups & salads from scratch, and every other skill you’ll ever use in the kitchen throughout this series, all on the calendar now!

Private Group Classes
Similar to our in-person private classes, we are now offering online private group classes!

Picture your group of friends, family, co-workers, or team members working from several different locations, all working towards the same goal.  We’re work with them to understand the best ways to work together while working from home, how they can benefit from using technology to connect, and help everyone have a little fun and a few extra laughs during this intense time.

If a private class is of interest, the recipes we use can be customized and we can cater our lesson to fit your exact goals.  To learn more information about this offering, please click here to contact us and let us know that you are interested in hosting an online class.

What’s the Format of These Classes?
All classes will be built using the same, easy-to-follow, easy-to-use format.

48 hours prior to your class, all online class registrants will receive an email containing detailed directions on linking to the class through Zoom - an online video-sharing technology. All registrants will also receive an email with a shopping list and menu packet ahead of time if you would like to cook along. (Please note that, once you receive the shopping list and menu packet, your enrollment in the class is non-refundable.)  All attendees will also receive a copy of the class after the class is over if you would like to cook along at another time.

What’s best about our format is that you can use this time however works best for you and your family!  You may choose to prep a few of the ingredients in advance (for example, you might want to consider starting your starches a little before class) and cook along with Chef, or you might want to enjoy it as you would otherwise watch a television cooking show and re-watch it he video when you’re ready to cook or bake later.  Either way, you will be learning the techniques through this time and will come out of the class with new skills and easy-to-apply lessons that you would not have learned elsewhere.

Do You Need Any Specific Ingredients or Materials to Participate?
When we’re creating these classes, we are certain to make the recipes as approachable as possible.  So, while we will be sending out a shopping list prior that relates directly to the recipes we’re preparing, we will also be suggesting alternatives throughout the class and encourage you to make these recipes your own.

How Do I Sign Up?
As usual, all classes will be frequently updated on our class calendar!  While class prices typically vary, all classes are priced between $15-25 per class, per computer.  So if you sign up once, the entire family can get involved all at one low price!

We sincerely hope that you are staying healthy, staying home, and enjoying your time developing deeper connections with your loved ones.  We are so proud to be doing our part to flatten the curve.
